The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory. An arctic air mass will remain over the area through the week. Strengthening low pressure will pass offshore Wednesday with wintry precipitation (snow, sleet , and freezing rain) expected to impact much of southeast SC/GA. The greatest potential for accumulating snowfall is across the coastal areas, especially around Charleston.

FREEZING RAIN: The Charleston Tri-County area and Colleton County is forecast to see a 3-6 hour period of light freezing rain/drizzle tonight into early Friday. A trace to a few hundredths of an inch ice accumulation is expected by sunrise Friday, resulting in a light glaze of ice. Travel conditions may become hazardous late tonight through Friday morning, especially on untreated bridges and overpasses.
