National Fire Prevention Week

Walterboro Fire Department celebrated National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA's) National Fire Prevention week October 8-14. National Fire Prevention Week aims to keep the public informed about the importance of fire prevention. It commemorates the Great Chicago fire that spread up to 3.3 square miles in 1871. This year's theme is "Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!" which highlights the need for building escape plans.

The International Code Council (ICC) works closely with NFPA to advocate for modern, up-to-date building codes through the Coalition for Current Safety Codes and to inform individuals and communities about the importance of fire prevention.
