Eligibility Requirements

  1. Candidate must be at least 21 years of age
  2. Be a citizen of the United States
  3. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent to apply
  4. No conviction of any felony crime or a misdemeanor that involves moral character, perjury, or making a false statement. Have no history of drug abuse, a lifestyle free of illegal drug use, and no DUI conviction within the past 10 years
  5. Must have or be able to obtain a SC drivers license class E.
  6. Must be able to pass the following: written examination, pre-employment polygraph, psychological, credit check, oral interview and thorough background investigation
  7. Meet the physical fitness standards necessary for the performance of duties
  8. Professional in appearance, demeanor, grooming and promote good personal hygiene
  9. Possess an honorable discharge from the armed forces (if applicable)

 

Required Documentation

  1. Social Security Card
  2. High school diploma or GED certificate
  3. Valid South Carolina driver's license and/or out of state driving record if out of state license held within the past 10 years
  4. Birth Certificate
  5. Military discharge form (DD214 if applicable)
  6. College transcripts (if applicable)
  7. Proof of name change (if applicable)
  8. Naturalization papers (if applicable)
  9. Applicable certification certificates
