Business Environment Quality of Life Strategic Location

With approximately 600 businesses in town, the City of Walterboro is concerned about the continuing health and welfare of its businesses, as well as attracting new business to enhance the ones already located here.

The development of the City has been blessed by a strong, interested city government. Intelligent ordinances and sensible planning have helped make the City an example for other communities in the Low Country. Day-to-day affairs of the City are administered by a City Manager appointed by the City Council. A committed police force provides 24-hour security for all businesses. The City provides one-stop shopping for our business community. Permits, licenses, and plan reviews are all available through the City.

The City of Walterboro is positioned on the road to everywhere, strategically located on I-95, a short drive from I-26 and I-16.

Water and sewer services are provided by the City of Walterboro. Electric services are provided by SCE&G and Coastal Electric Cooperative. Natural Gas services are also provided by SCE&G. Upscale shopping centers, spacious parks, cultural events, and easy access to Charleston, Savannah, and Columbia bring big city convenience to a small town atmosphere. The ambiance and quality of life in Walterboro make it the community of choice for many businesses that locate in the Low Country!
